FAARFIELD — Airport Pavement Design

The program actually used to design airport pavements in the United States, accompanying advisory circular AC 150/5320-6G. It computes layer thicknesses with a 3D finite element method driven by the real aircraft traffic mix — aircraft type, take-off weight and annual departures — rather than a single design load. It covers both flexible and rigid pavements, including overlay design on an existing pavement. The FAA distributes it as a free download, and it underpins the design requirements at every federally funded airport in the US.
