BioSTEAM

BioSTEAM lets you model a chemical or bioprocess plant in Python code: streams, unit operations such as reactors, distillation, heat exchangers and pumps, and systems with recycles. It solves mass and energy balances, sizes and costs the equipment, and computes production cost, net present value and minimum selling price, as well as environmental impacts. It includes a databank of over 20,000 chemicals and thermodynamic property packages, and can run thousands of scenarios for uncertainty and sensitivity analysis. Limitation: there is no graphical flowsheet editor, so all work is done in code.
