GSFLOW

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)

GSFLOW
Download from the vendor water.usgs.gov

USGS GSFLOW couples two established models: PRMS, which simulates watershed surface hydrology (runoff, infiltration, evapotranspiration), and MODFLOW, which simulates groundwater flow. In a single run it computes exchanges between streams, lakes and the aquifer, so you can test how pumping, land-use change or climate affect streamflow and the basin water budget. Suited to hydrologists, water-resources engineers and environmental consultants managing catchments. Limitations: it has no graphical interface of its own, so input files are prepared in a text editor or with helpers such as ModelMuse, and you need to understand both underlying models. USGS currently recommends version 2.2.1 because two bugs affecting soil-zone calculations were found in version 2.3.0.
