Horizon EDA

Horizon EDA Project

Horizon EDA
Download from the vendor horizon-eda.org

Horizon EDA approaches board design from a data management angle: a part is defined once and linked to its symbol, footprint, parameters and manufacturer part number, instead of every project holding its own copy. That addresses the real long-term pain — libraries that break between projects.

The system includes a schematic editor, layout with interactive routing, DRC and a 3D view, with manufacturing output.

Against KiCad: KiCad is more mature with a far larger community. Horizon offers a more disciplined library model. For a beginner — KiCad; for anyone frustrated by library management — worth a look.
