MT3D-USGS

U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)

MT3D-USGS
Download from the vendor water.usgs.gov

MT3D-USGS simulates solute and contaminant transport in groundwater using the flow field computed by MODFLOW. It extends MT3DMS with transport in the unsaturated zone, streams and lakes, chemical reactions and pump-and-treat recirculation. It also accepts MODFLOW 6 flow results on structured grids. Suited to environmental engineers and hydrogeologists assessing contaminant plumes and designing remediation systems. Limitations: there is no graphical interface, so input is usually prepared with tools such as ModelMuse or FloPy; the current version (1.1.0) was released in 2019 and has not been updated since; the bundled executables are for Windows.
