U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)

Scoops3D

Scoops3D computes three-dimensional slope stability across an entire landscape from a digital elevation model (DEM). Using a 3D column limit-equilibrium method, it tests millions of possible spherical slip surfaces and returns for each cell the lowest factor of safety together with the slide volume and area. You can define soil layers or full 3D property distributions, pore pressures from a piezometric surface or a full 3D field, and even suction in unsaturated soil. Input and output work with GIS software. Limitation: it is meant for regional landslide hazard mapping, not detailed design of a single slope.
