eQUEST

James J. Hirsch & Associates (DOE-2)

eQUEST

eQUEST is a graphical interface on top of the US Department of Energy’s DOE-2.2 simulation engine. The building wizard defines the building shape, envelope, windows, lighting and HVAC systems, and the program runs an hourly simulation for a full year and reports energy use and costs. The Energy Efficiency Measure (EEM) wizard compares several design alternatives side by side. Suited to energy consultants, HVAC engineers and architects at the early design stage. Limitations: it runs on Windows only, the latest version (3.65) dates from 2018 and is no longer updated, and climate data and defaults are geared to the US.
