GMT (Generic Mapping Tools)
Download from the vendor www.generic-mapping-tools.org

A long-established set of tools for processing geodata and producing publication-quality maps, cross-sections and plots. It lets you draw topographic and bathymetric maps, process and grid data, mark survey points and prepare animations, all in a script that can be re-run with new data. It is also available from Python (PyGMT), Julia and MATLAB. Work is command-based rather than through a graphical interface, so it takes some learning.
