MATPOWER

A set of tools for power-system simulation and optimisation, widely used in academia, government and industry. It computes power flow and optimal power flow and comes with standard test-case networks for checking and comparison. It runs inside MATLAB or GNU Octave, so it can be used entirely free. It suits students, researchers and engineers who need transparent grid calculations they can modify and extend. There is no graphical interface — the work is done with commands and scripts.
