OpenPile

Guillaume Melin (OpenPile project)

OpenPile

OpenPile is a Python library for pile calculations. It builds a one-dimensional finite element model of a pile as a beam (Euler-Bernoulli or Timoshenko) supported by linear or non-linear soil springs in the axial, lateral and rotational directions, with common spring formulations for soil-structure interaction. You get internal forces and displacements along the pile. It suits foundation engineers and researchers who want to check laterally loaded piles and compare models. Limitations: no graphical interface, only Python 3.8 to 3.10 are supported, and the authors state it is mainly for education and research.
