OpenTripPlanner

OpenTripPlanner Project

OpenTripPlanner
Download from the vendor www.opentripplanner.org

OpenTripPlanner computes journeys combining walking, cycling and public transport, from GTFS timetables and an OpenStreetMap road network. Beyond planning a single trip, it produces accessibility maps: where you can reach from a given point within thirty minutes, and how many residents or jobs fall inside that reach.

It is the tool for real planning questions — what an added bus route does to a neighbourhood’s accessibility, what share of residents can reach a hospital within an hour, and comparison between planning alternatives.

What is missing: it is a server you run, not software you install and click. A GTFS feed from the local operators is required.
