Rufus

Pete Batard

Rufus

Rufus formats a USB stick and turns it into a boot drive from an ISO image, for example for a clean install of Windows or a Linux distribution, running diagnostic tools or flashing BIOS and firmware from DOS. It is small, runs without installation, supports UEFI and legacy BIOS, and works even when the target computer has no operating system. It helps an engineer reinstalling a workstation, preparing a rescue drive or trying a new system on an old PC. Limitations: it runs on Windows only, and each run writes one system and erases the whole drive.
