Sound Insulation Estimator

Sound Insulation Estimator, developed for NAVFAC, helps select sound insulation upgrades for a room and estimate the material and labour cost. The user defines the property and construction type, primary sound source, outdoor noise zone (DNL) and indoor goal, room characteristics and up to six envelope elements such as walls, roof and windows. The program calculates the upgrades needed to reach the target noise level reduction and shows the expected cost and noise reduction. Suited to architects and acoustic consultants, especially for buildings exposed to aircraft noise. Limitations: it runs on Windows and requires Microsoft Excel 2010 or later; labour rates are based on US states and the element database covers only common materials; the version dates from 2018.
