TightVNC is a long-standing implementation of the VNC protocol: you install a server on the computer you want to control and connect to it with the viewer from any other machine. It is especially suited to the office network, for example to work from the meeting room on a calculation workstation or check a computer running a long analysis, and also to connect to computers running another VNC server. It works with many VNC clients and can be deployed across an organisation. Limitation: there is no built-in encryption, so beyond the local network use it only through a VPN or SSH tunnel; the current version is for Windows.
