UXsim

UXsim simulates vehicle traffic across a whole road network at mesoscopic level: movement on links is based on Newell’s simplified car-following model, and nodes include bottlenecks and traffic signals. You build the network in code or import it from OpenStreetMap, define origin-destination demand and compute dynamic traffic assignment, then get animations of congestion and vehicle trajectories and travel time statistics. It is fast, handling tens of thousands of vehicles on a city network in seconds to minutes. It suits transport scenario studies, signal control and research. Limitation: it does not model individual lanes and detailed manoeuvres as microscopic simulators do.
