VeraGrid (formerly GridCal)

Power-system planning and simulation software written in Python, with a graphical interface for drawing the grid and editing it in tables. It performs AC and DC load flow, unbalanced three-phase analysis, short circuit, optimal power flow, contingency and cascading-failure analysis, state estimation and RMS and EMT dynamic simulation. It also includes tools for grid reduction, reliability assessment and investment optimisation. It suits grid engineers looking for a free alternative to commercial packages, and it can also be driven as a library from code.
