Visual MINTEQ

Jon Petter Gustafsson (SLU, Sweden)

Visual MINTEQ

Visual MINTEQ, originally built on the US EPA’s MINTEQA2, computes the chemical composition of a solution in contact with gases, solids and particle surfaces. You enter concentrations, pH and temperature and get the speciation of ions and complexes, mineral saturation indices, the effect of precipitation or dissolution, redox couples and ion binding to oxides and dissolved organic matter with models such as NICA-Donnan and CD-MUSIC. Data can be imported from and exported to Excel, and titrations can be simulated. It is used in water treatment, soil remediation design and assessing heavy metal availability. Limitation: it has no transport model and computes a single point only.
