Czkawka — The Complete Guide: Find Duplicate Files and Similar Images on the Project Server

Czkawka, by Rafał Mikrut, is an open-source tool for finding duplicates and junk on a disk, for Windows, macOS and Linux. The core and the older interface are under MIT, the new Krokiet interface under GPL-3.0. It is free for any use, does not go online and collects no data.

What you get

Deleting duplicates safely

On a project server, a duplicate is sometimes the version that was submitted to the client. Back up before a bulk delete, choose by hand in each group which copy stays, and prefer moving to the trash. Use the Krokiet interface, because the older GTK interface will not get new releases.

Related tools

For temporary files and caches — BleachBit. For a visual map of what takes the space — QDirStat on Linux or WizTree on Windows.

The bottom line

The most complete free duplicate finder, fast even on large drives, and completely free of ads.
