age

age encrypts files with one command, with no config files and no algorithm choices: you can encrypt with a passphrase, to a short public key created with age-keygen, or to an existing SSH key. It suits encrypting backups, project archives or data files before uploading them to the cloud, and use in automated scripts. Ready-made binaries exist for Windows, macOS and Linux, and plugins support hardware such as YubiKey. Limitation: there is no graphical interface and no digital signing, and the recipient also needs age or a compatible tool to open the file.
