EasyOCR is a Python library built on PyTorch that recognises text in images in a few lines of code: for each text fragment you get the bounding box, the text and a confidence score. It supports more than 80 languages, including English, Arabic, Russian and Chinese, works on CPU only if needed, and has a command line and the option to train your own models. It suits students and engineers building a small tool, for example reading equipment nameplates from site photos or numbers from photos of measuring instruments. Limitations: Hebrew is not in the language list, installation is heavy because of PyTorch, and the project is updated slowly.
