File Roller

GNOME Project

File Roller

File Roller, shown in many distributions as Archive Manager, is the archive manager of the GNOME desktop and comes preinstalled on most distributions that use it. It creates ZIP, 7Z, TAR with GZ, BZ2 or XZ, and JAR archives, and also opens RAR, ARJ, LZH, ISO and DEB and RPM packages. You can browse an archive, open a file from it and add files by drag and drop. It suits engineers on Linux who need a simple, familiar tool to pack and unpack files. Limitation: the interface is basic, and available formats depend on the command-line tools installed.
