Neovim

Neovim is a modern fork of Vim that keeps modal editing and its keyboard commands, and adds Lua for configuration and plugins, a built-in LSP client for completion and code checking, and Tree-sitter for accurate syntax highlighting. Engineers use it to edit scripts and input files directly on compute servers over SSH, and to build a light development setup for Python, C and LaTeX with community plugins. Limitation: the learning curve is very steep, and most capabilities need manual configuration or a ready-made config bundle.
