An explicit finite element solver for fast events — crash, impact, blast, drop and fracture. Altair — now part of Siemens — released it as open source, which is a significant shift: until then industrial-grade crash analysis was reachable only through licences costing tens of thousands. It handles nonlinear materials at high strain rates, contact between bodies and failure, and is used in the automotive and defence industries.
