A slicer is the link between the model and the machine: it cuts the solid into layers, plans the head path, adds supports and infill, and estimates time and material. PrusaSlicer offers unusual control — parameters that change with height, hand-painted supports, modifiers for a specific region of a part — and that is what separates a print that carries load from one that delaminates.

It works with printers from many manufacturers, not only Prusa, and exports for all the common machines. For an engineer printing a functional prototype or a jig, this tool determines the result more than the CAD does.
