PVGIS calculates, for any point in the world except the poles, solar radiation and the expected output of a grid-connected photovoltaic system with fixed tilt and azimuth or with tracking, as well as off-grid systems with batteries. You can get monthly averages, hourly series over many years and a downloadable typical meteorological year (TMY), plus the local horizon for shading. There is also an API for automated use. Solar designers and engineers use it for quick feasibility checks and to get radiation data for detailed simulations. Limitation: the system model is simple, with no string or inverter design or detailed shading.
