scikit-fem is a clean, lightweight Python library for building finite-element solutions: you write the weak form of the problem and it assembles the matrices and solves. It depends only on NumPy and SciPy, so it installs in seconds on any computer. The many examples in the documentation cover elasticity, heat conduction, Stokes flow, beams and plates. It is very well suited to learning the finite element method, quick checks and adding an FEM calculation to an existing engineering script.
