Shutter is a long-standing Linux screenshot tool that captures an area, the full desktop including multiple monitors, a window, a menu or a tooltip. Its built-in editor adds text, arrows and shapes, cropping, pixelation of sensitive details and auto-numbered markers, which is especially handy for step-by-step instructions for design software or a test report. It also has plugins and upload with link output. Limitation: installation is through distribution packages, and the site does not describe Wayland support, so it mainly suits X11 sessions.
