Snipaste captures a screen area with automatic detection of windows and UI elements, at pixel precision, and includes a colour picker and capture history. Its stand-out feature is pinning: any capture or clipboard content becomes a floating window that stays above all programs and can be zoomed, rotated or made translucent. An engineer can pin a data table or a clause of a standard next to an open model and type values without switching windows. It offers shapes, text and blur markup. Limitations: no video recording, and the free version is for personal use only.
