Timeshift

Linux Mint (originally Tony George)

Timeshift

Timeshift is the Linux counterpart of Windows System Restore: it saves snapshots of system files and settings at regular intervals, so you can roll back after an update or driver install breaks your setup. In rsync mode each snapshot looks like a full backup while unchanged files are shared through hard links, and in BTRFS mode snapshots are taken and restored in seconds. It suits a Linux workstation running analysis software and models. Limitation: it is not a document backup tool and the home folder is excluded by default, so you need a second tool for your actual files.
