Cura is the easy entry point into 3D printing: a very large profile library for manufacturers and materials, an interface that separates basic from advanced settings, and a preview that shows exactly what the machine will do. A plugin system extends it further.
Against PrusaSlicer the difference is mostly approach: Cura is easier to start with and has a broader profile library, PrusaSlicer gives finer control. Both are open, both are free, and most engineers install both.
