XnConvert is a dedicated tool for converting and processing many images at once. You build a chain of actions from more than 80 options, such as resizing, cropping, rotating, colour correction, adding text or a watermark and editing metadata, and run it on a whole folder. It reads more than 500 formats and writes about 70. For an engineer it is handy for shrinking hundreds of site photos before putting them in an inspection report, converting TIFF scans to JPG or PDF and renaming files consistently. Settings can be saved as presets and a watch folder can be set up. Limitation: free for private and educational use only; company use needs a paid licence.
