digiKam is a program for managing large photo libraries: it indexes collections on local, removable or network drives, and supports tagging, rating, search by metadata and dates, and automatic face recognition. It includes an editor with colour correction, cropping, retouching and filters, RAW processing and batch operations on many photos. An engineer can use it to organise thousands of site and supervision photos by project, location and date, and to find an old picture quickly. The database can live on a remote server. Limitation: the interface is crowded, and the first indexing of a large archive takes time.
