Gmsh

A finite element mesh generator with a built-in geometry engine, producing 2D and 3D meshes with precise control over density, element type and boundary layers. It can be driven entirely from a script, which is why it has become an almost standard part of every open numerical workflow — most free solvers know how to read its format.
